The Suitcase Circus:
A stopmotion project made by me, Anne de Geus, Kim van Merode and Jan van Gils
Its inportant to me that they get the credit they deserve, without my teammates this project could have never existed... but what is the suitcase circus?
Lets start at the begining...
Its 2023, august, and the stopmotion minor is just starting out. Anne and Kim had a great idea for the animation:
Shy girl learns how to be confident with the help of a silly clown.
Me and Jan were sold, and that day, ''the crazy clowns'' were born.
I went ahead and made sketches of the concept, you can see them here
The storyboards led to more, we had a few changes in the story but overall we kept the core of the story in it, the changes were mostly practical, to make stopmotion more easy.
Before we knew it, we had a whole storyboard of the project.
After that it was time for the moving storyboard, wich I made aswell. It was really fun but also really challenging. I had moments of figuring out the animation ahead, I needed to think of how to make it easy for the stopmotion animation.
This gave us a good framework for the animation. While I was working on the storyboards, the sets were being built. I didn't do alot of the character animation myself, Kim and Anne did most of that work, they both did amazing!
